The course is
very much practical based, with plenty of opportunity to learn and
practice the techniques being taught. We will be including some
demonstrations and short tutorials, but the emphasis will be on 'hands-on'
teaching.
Contents include:-
1. Basic clinical anatomy of
the eye
2. Ophthalmology note making and nomenclature
3. Slit lamp - basic techniques and practical applications
4. Common ophthalmology drugs
5. Pupil examination
6. Applanation tonometry
7. Direct ophthalmoscopy
8. Familiarity with other fundoscopy techniques (ie. Indirect and
Slit-lamp)
9. Visual fields
10. Dealing with corneal foreign bodies
11. Use of fluorescein
12. Acute red eye
13. Loss of
vision
14. Paediatric ophthalmic emergencies
