   History of the Club

Reflections on one hundred years of the SOC

From 1911 onwards, the Club Meetings were held regularly twice a year, pausing only during wartime. The venue generally alternated between Glasgow and Edinburgh, with the occasional visits to Paisley, Aberdeen and Dundee. In 1947, a joint meeting with the North of England Ophthalmological Society was held in Newcastle.

One Hundredth Meeting

3 June 1967 marked the 100th SOC Meeting. Held in Edinburgh, at the Royal College of Surgeons, the occasion was very well attended, and featured an outstanding array of interesting cases and discussion.
